A New Shopping Experience
Shop with a Specialist over Video on apple.com allows customers in the U.S. to connect with Apple retail team members via a safe and secure, one-way video shopping session. It's like FaceTiming, but with a product specialist who can answer all your iPhone questions -- and even guide you through the buying process.
During the session, an Apple team member will be on camera sharing their screen, but they will not be able to see the customer. If customers find that a session is unavailable or access the page after hours, they can contact a Specialist over the phone or via chat 24 hours a day.
Shop with a Specialist over Video is available to customers in the U.S. from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. PT every day on Try it for yourself here.
Authentically Apple
Our main goal was to develop an exceptional service they would feel akin to shopping at a physical apple store. This meant it was incredibly important to perfect three categories.
Materials
We relied heavily on apple stores to provide recognizable materials, lighting, surfaces and colors to build a virtual environment that feels instantly recognizable.
Depth of field
We developed imagery that boosted realism by experimenting with depth of field and spot-checking lighting against the specialist in the foreground. We blurred and provided enough elements that could best mimic a realistic environment.
Integration
The last and most important part to master was properly integrating the shopping experience within the greater ecom experience on apple.com. Funneling people to and from their shopping experience with ease.
